Wall-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price.

This movie ( Wall-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price) presents information available from other sources, most commonly the internet. Yet the way it's shown here is still compelling and worrying. The overall impact is quite powerful and the movie is worth watching. Most disturbing of all are the types and numbers of crimes committed in Wal-Mart shopping lots, aided by lack of security. Shoppers would be more protected if some investment were made, but that would cost money and it seems that spending money is not on the overall plan.

  1. One interesting thing from the documentary is that it focuses on the problems experienced mostly by American people. There is only one part of it that shows the horrible conditions of workers in China, which is by far more complicated that the crimes described by the Americans (even though these ones are already pretty bad).

  3. Great point Rayane, I agree with you... Another issue that I found interesting and I want to share with you guys is that a great accusation is made in this documentary against Wal-Mart, it is shown that Wal-Mart promotes enslavement in China and Bangladesh, which is a big deal; however the way it is transmitted in the film is that it is something only Wal-Mart does, which it is not true. Many companies as Zara, Le Lis Blanc and others got the same accusation. In my opinion this documentary is overdramatic and sensationalist.

  4. Well, in my point of view this is a great documentary that shows what is going on behind this huge economy. I think Victor made a point, around the world we have a lot of this kind of workers that work in a very critic condition and do not even have the right to fight for better condition, because as it happened with Wal-Mart workers, they do not want to lose their job because they have family to take care of.
